After years of trying different diets, I realised the answer wasn’t another “quick fix.” It was creating a simple daily habit that helped me stay consistent.
Hi, I’m Sarah.
I’m 54 and live in Manchester.
Like many women, I never really struggled with my weight when I was younger.
But somewhere between raising two children, working full-time, and putting everyone else first, things slowly changed.
Not overnight.
Just little by little.
One size became two.
Then another.
One morning I opened my wardrobe and realised nearly everything I loved wearing had been pushed to the back because it simply didn’t fit anymore.
That was the moment I admitted something had to change.
It Wasn’t About Looking Perfect
People often assume weight is only about appearance.
For me, it wasn’t.
I just wanted to feel comfortable again.
I wanted to walk upstairs without feeling out of breath.
I wanted more energy after work.
I wanted to enjoy weekends instead of feeling exhausted.
Most of all, I wanted to recognise the woman looking back at me in the mirror.
I’d Tried Almost Everything
Over the years I’d joined slimming groups.
Downloaded calorie-counting apps.
Bought exercise equipment.
Started Monday diets that rarely lasted until Thursday.
I’d lose a little weight…
Then life would get busy.
The weight would come back.
Sometimes with a little extra.
It felt frustrating because I genuinely wanted to make healthier choices.
I just couldn’t seem to stay consistent.
One Conversation Changed My Thinking
One afternoon, while catching up with a friend over coffee, she told me she’d completely changed her morning routine.
Nothing extreme.
No impossible diets.
No expensive meal plans.
She simply found a routine that helped her start each day feeling more focused and in control.
One part of that routine was enjoying a specially prepared herbal tea every morning.
I was sceptical.
I’d seen plenty of products making huge promises online.
But this wasn’t about miracles.
It was about building a habit she actually enjoyed.
I Decided to Give It a Go
The first week wasn’t dramatic.
I wasn’t expecting it to be.
But I noticed something surprising.
Taking ten quiet minutes each morning for myself helped me start the day with better intentions.
Instead of grabbing biscuits mid-morning, I found myself making slightly better food choices.
Instead of skipping my evening walk, I actually looked forward to getting outside.
Those little decisions began to add up.
The Biggest Change Wasn’t the Number on the Scales
What surprised me most wasn’t my weight.
It was how much better I felt.
I had more confidence.
More energy.
I felt motivated to cook healthier meals.
I started enjoying weekend walks again.
Friends commented that I looked happier.
And honestly…
They were right.
Small Habits Really Do Add Up
Looking back, I realised there wasn’t one magic solution.
It was a collection of small daily habits.
Getting enough sleep.
Moving a little more.
Making healthier food choices.
And sticking to a morning routine I genuinely enjoyed.
That simple cup of herbal tea became part of that routine.
Not because it did everything for me.
But because it reminded me to put my health first.

Before You Go…
If you’re feeling the way I felt a year ago, remember this:
You don’t need to change everything overnight.
Sometimes the biggest transformations begin with one small habit repeated consistently.
I hope my story encourages you to find a routine that works for you.
Wishing you all the best,
Sarah
